Expert Rehabilitation After Surgery
Surgery is just the beginning. What happens in the weeks and months that follow determines how fully you recover, how quickly you return to normal activities and how well you protect against re-injury. At SSEP, our Accredited Exercise Physiologists design progressive post-surgical rehabilitation programs that are safe, structured and built around your surgical outcome.
We work closely with surgeons, physiotherapists and GPs to ensure your rehabilitation program aligns with your surgical protocol and clinical expectations at every stage.
Surgeries We Support
Our post-surgical rehabilitation programs cover a wide range of surgical procedures, including:
- Knee surgery — ACL reconstruction, meniscus repair, knee replacement
- Hip surgery — hip replacement, labral repair, hip arthroscopy
- Shoulder surgery — rotator cuff repair, labrum reconstruction, shoulder replacement
- Spinal surgery — discectomy, spinal fusion, laminectomy
- Cardiac surgery — coronary bypass, valve repair
- Abdominal and oncological surgery
- Foot and ankle procedures
The Three Phases of Rehabilitation
We use objective testing and regular re-assessment throughout to ensure you're progressing safely and achieving the outcomes your surgery was designed to deliver.
Early Phase
Protection and initial movement — reducing swelling, maintaining range of motion and beginning gentle activation of key muscle groups.
Strengthening Phase
Progressive resistance training to rebuild the strength and stability lost during surgery and recovery.
Functional Phase
Sport- and task-specific exercises that prepare you for a full return to activity, work or sport.
