Strength & Power Training

Build the physical foundation that performance is built on.

Strength & Conditioning

Why Strength & Power Training?

Strength and power are the physical qualities that underpin performance in virtually every sport and physical activity. More strength means greater force production, reduced injury risk, better movement efficiency and improved capacity across all athletic tasks. Power — the rate at which that strength is expressed — determines your explosiveness, your acceleration and your ability to respond to the demands of competition in real time.

At SSEP, strength and power training is not generic gym programming. It is systematically designed, evidence-based work built around your sport, your body and your performance targets — and supervised by clinicians who understand the difference.

What Strength & Power Training Looks Like

For Athletes

Sport-specific strength programs designed around the positional and movement demands of your code. Progressive loading phases timed to your competition calendar, with testing at each training block to track adaptation and inform programme evolution.

For Active Adults

Research is clear: beginning in our thirties, humans progressively lose muscle mass — a process that accelerates with age and leads to reduced function, increased injury risk and diminished quality of life. Structured strength training is the most effective intervention available to counteract this. Our programs for non-athletes focus on building functional strength that supports long-term health, independence and vitality.

Program Components

  • Maximal strength development — heavy compound movements and progressive overload
  • Explosive power training — plyometrics, loaded jumps, Olympic lifting derivatives
  • Unilateral and stability work to address strength asymmetries
  • Velocity-based training where appropriate for elite athletes
  • In-season load management to maintain strength without compromising recovery

Testing & Progress Tracking

Baseline strength testing is completed before every program block, and repeat testing is scheduled at each transition point. We use objective data — not guesswork — to ensure you're adapting as intended and progressing towards your targets.
